Clan Name:
Shimetsuki. It translates as Lion Eyes.
Clan Home Nation:
Fire Country, namely the Hidden Village of the Leaf, Konoha
Clan's History:
The first confirmed sightings of a Shimetsuki user was about five years before the founding of Konoha. Rumors had been spreading about them for many years prior, but it was only when the Second Kazekage of Suna was aided in protection from invasion by a group of Shimetsuki that their presence was confirmed publicly.
From this it appears that the Shimetsuki originally came from the Country of Wind, but they soon migrated to the region that is present-day Konoha due to the unfavorable conditions for their summons that they had recently acquired. The founder of the clan, whose name has been deemed as 'need-to-know basis' by the clan to outsiders, journeyed into Fire country in order to find Boss ShiShi, who he was able to gain enough respect of over time to form a blood pact with the lions.
When the First Hokage took his mantle of leadership, he learned that Konoha was blessed with many unique clans such as the Uchiha, the Hyuuga, Inuzuka, Aburame, and Akimichi. It wasn't until one year into his reign that the heroism of the Shimetsuki reached his ears. Unknown to the First was that during the founding of Konoha a squadron of shinobi from the Rock had been sent to eliminate the new threat by cutting off the head of the snake. However, they were intercepted by the Shimetsuki. The First formally acknowledged the Shimetsuki clan as one of Konoha's finest. At this time they had their highest number of living members to date at sixty. Presently, there are only twenty five, but the population has been steady for the past fifty years and is in no danger of dying out.
Presently there are three Shimetsuki in ANBU, four jounin, eight chuunin, and one genin. The Shimetsuki play an active role in Konoha and are often willing to go on any mission for both the reputation of Konoha and for the challenge presented itself. The current head of the clan is Shimetsuki Hikari, who is on a friendly relationship with many in Konoha. The only clan that openly disdains him and his family are the Hyuuga.
This disdain is well-deserved in some aspects, but hardly blameworthy in others. Hiashi Hyuuga is especially venomous towards the Shimetsuki, but while this seems child-like at first, when the facts are looked at, appears to be very reasonable. About 21 years ago, when Hikari was still a Chuuninn at age 16, a rouge Hyuuga had defected from Konoha and had fled. Hikari had requested to be in the pursuit team in order to gain experience along more advanced ninjas. While Hikari was highly talented for a Chuunin, this still appeared to be innocent in nature, so the request was granted. Though normally an honest person, he secretly performed the initiation ritual of the Shimetsuki before joining the pursuit with several large vials hidden under his vest. Hikari advanced ahead of the team with his eyes activated, so he was better able to track the defector. When he caught up, he used several explosion tags and the Honoo Senpuu to defeat the already weakened Hyuuga. By the time the team caught up, Hikari had already harvested the blood necessary for obtaining the Byakagun. When he returned to the Shimetsuki grounds, he completed the ritual and was thus knocked unconscious. When no one saw him for several days outside of the clan, it became blaringly clear what had occured, and since then a grudge has been held by the Hyuugas.
Since then, both Hikari and Hiashi have had children who, strangely enough, were assigned to the same team. When this occured, Hiashi secretly attempted to move his daughter to a different team while Hikari kept a careful eye on his movement, wary for Hikaru's safety. Nonetheless, they remained on the same team and both the Hyuuga and the Shimetsuki team members appear to get along, something that hasn't happened between the two clans in a very long time.

Clan Traits:
There are no immediate traits that distinguish a Shimetsuki from a normal human unless their eyes are activated. However, when one spends a lot of time with a Shimetsuki, they soon find that they had lionish characteristics: When they yawn, it comes out the same way as a lion's. They also roar, growl, or snarl much like a lion does when they are extremely angry, just as a lion does when fending off a lion outside of the pride. This is thought to be a result of each individual, rather than a hereditary effect, from constantly merging with their summons. Only the current heir to the clan lacks these traits due to the lack of ability to summon.
Clan's Kekkei Genki:
Shimetsuki-This is the technique for which the Shimetsuki clan gets their name. This technique is a dojutsu which, when in use, causes the users eyes to shine with a golden light. When it is activated, the user can see rapid movement much easier, though not nearly to the extreme extent of the first two dots of the Sharingan. A Shimetsuki user can't copy a jutsu after seeing it just once, but only after seeing it many times. While this is not useful in combat, it can help a ninja learn a technique somewhat quicker than their peers. However, this is not the true strength of the Shimetsuki. While activated, this dojustu can be used to copy any single bloodline limit. This comes at a high cost though. The user is completely drained of chakra and is unconscious for three days and must recover for another two. In other words, the user can't just copy a tough opponents limit mid-battle and then turn around and use it on them. This technique is dangerous to use when alone because it is very likely that the person who is being copied does not want to be! It is also difficult to perform due to the length of time that it takes. It is believed that this dojutsu arose from a clan's ritual akin to omophagia. The official founder of the clan was the first child of clanners with Lioneyes to inherit them in a predictable manner. It was for many generations prior that the members of the clan *skip over if you are squeamish for a few lines* would consume the blood and vital organs of their enemies in the belief that they would inherit their strengths. It is because of this that a Shimetsuki can only copy a bloodline limit by drinking some of their opponent's blood. Through this the parts of the DNA code regarding the bloodline limit are absorbed using chakra energy and is re-routed to the clanner's own code, which is then altered accordingly. A complex series of hand seals must be performed beforehand. The starting sequence has never been witnessed by a non-Shimetsuki, but several shinobi of the Leaf have witnessed the finishing sequence, which chiefly contained Dog, Dragon, Ox, and Rat seals with the occasional Snake seal. There are about forty seals in all that must be performed.
When done in enemy territory, this is only done when accompanied by at least two strong team mates. One guards the user while the other finishes off any attackers. This ability also causes high distrust between the Shimetsuki clan and other clans with bloodline limits, but to everyone else in Konoha, the Shimetsuki clan members are heroes. The Head Family of the Hyuuga are particularly wary of the Shimetsuki and take great care to avoid letting the Byakagun fall in to the hands of a Shimetsuki. It is quite rare to see any two members of these clans agree with one another. The Uchiha are also wary, but not to the extreme as the Hyuuga. In fact, having an Uchiha and a Shimetsuki on the same team is a great advantage when on a mission, which will almost guarantee a success due to the combined strength of the Uchiha and the Shimetsuki. Where one is blind, the other will cover. This only happens occasionally though. The difference between the relationships with the Hyuuga and Uchiha is that the Hyuuga openly disdain the Shimetsuki but the Uchiha are willing to team up for the sake of Konoha and on rare occasions befriend. The last known relationship between an Uchiha and a Shimetsuki was that between Shimetsuki Hikari and Uchiha Itachi. It was said that after the massacre of the Uchiha, Hikari went into mourning for the clan, not consuming any form of nutrition but water for three weeks.
It is impossible for a Shimetsuki to copy more than one bloodline limit. Every attempt to do so has resulted in immediate death.
Kuchiyose no Jutsu--Lions
The Shimetsuki have a close bond with the lions that belongs only to them. This also influenced the clan name. (lion=shishi=shi[/b'metsuki. Only two members of the clan have been able to summon Boss ShiShi--it's founder and Shimetsuki Hikari. The only clan member unable to summon lions is Hikari's daughter Hikaru. This is because the scroll was stolen by Orochimaru when he tried to convince the Shimetsuki to join him due to their ability to copy bloodlines.
